Process - how to do it
- This is a hunt...you'll receive instructions from HQ, oas text messages to your mobile phones. The messages will tell you what to look for and where to look for them. You'll be searching for minibeasts.
- When you find a minibeast:try not to disturb it, but look closely at it and make some observations. Try to describe the minibeast. Later, you'll be trying to identify the minibeasts you found - if you have an accurate record of what it looked like, it will make it easier to identify.
- Discuss with your group members what the characteristics of the minibeast are e.g. how many legs does it have? what size is it (very small, small, medium, big)? Can you describe the appearance of the minibeast?
- When you have agreed between you the characteristics or a description of the minibeast, enter them into a text message on one of your phones and send into HQ. You can send more than one message for each minibeast.
- When sending a message, the first word should be the name of the minibeast. This is so you can put them all together later.
- If you do not know the name of the minibeast, put a letter (a,b,c...) at the start of the message. Each time you find a new minibeast, use the next available letter.
- When you are called back in, all the groups will work together - the Resources page has links to help you work with your data and the link to see your data.
*Very important: do not go outside the school grounds unless you have permission to do so!*
