Reflection on Term 2

The above reflections were written not long after I completed those assignments and form the main part of my reflection on term 2.

In addition, this term presented a lot of information in short spaces of time - we had some guest speakers talking about areas such as ICT in special needs education, ICT policy-making and ICT in learning in the wider world. These were interesting and it was nice to be able to just sit back and listen to the speakers, without worrying about taking notes - as they were to inform and not tied into any assessment on the course. For me, coming mainly from a technical rather than educational background, it was good to get insights into these aspects of education.

This term really focussed in on research, with research methods being covered and seminars from people who were doing or had completed PhDs. Research methods is something that I think is very diffcult to teach - certainly, I didn't really appreciate what was involved till I actually had to do it. But then, that's my style of learning - I learn by doing things and by having something concrete to work towards.

During this term, I learned something not only from doing my assignments, but also from observing the way the lecturers taught. I was interested to see the approaches to teaching technical skills, as this is one aspect of education that I do have some experience in.

I would have liked to cover more on instructional design. The WebQuest was just one model and I think that for someone like me on this course, exposure to more models would have been beneficial.
