The 'Hen' Poem
Meave & Sheila took some time out of their busy schedule of relaxing in Bishangari to compose this lovely poem, which they read out at the girls' night out two days before the wedding!
Terri and Dawit - the Love Story!
Twas Summer-time 2003
When from Ireland our Terri did flee
Enough of IT, Guiness and Gaa
She set her sights for Africa
So she put Marino up for rent
And off to North Ethiopia - Mekelle - she went
She taught computer science at a 3rd level school
And all of her students thought that she was real cool
She soon settled into Tigrinian life
It wasn't always easily, with small bits of strife
But with injera and tibs and tej galore
With the other ex-pats the craic did soar
Then the Donkey Sanctuary crew came into her life
Little did Dawit know he'd met his future wife!
After a short time of courting and romantic dates
It soon became clear they'd be more than just mates
But then as Terri's contract was over
She came home to Ireland, no more a wild rover
But feelings were strong and the phone-line was hell
So Terri cam back for a short spell
Then as our young lovers were so keen
Daeit took a trip to the land of the green
They could no longer live in countries apart
So back to Ethiopia for Terri to follow her heart
So they settled in Addis as happy as could be
And on Valentine's Day he went down on one knee
Terri said "of course" with a big kiss on the lips
Then told us all to start planning our trips
So we're all here now for the big celebration
Not to mention the once in a lifetime vacation
So let's all raise our glasses and give lots of cheers
And wish Terri and Dawit love and happiness for all their years
